2026 outdoor Season
grassroots and Recreational Soccer Programs
U4-7 Tim Bits Micro/Mini Soccer Outdoor Registration is open
For players born in the years 2019-2022 (U4-7) there will be an in-house league at VGCC in May and June.
There will be two options: Monday & Wednesday or Tuesday & Thursday
Sessions will begin at 6pm
Activities will be run in alignment with Canada Soccer’s Grassroots programming approach and will include parental involvement with volunteer coach leadership and weekly outlines provided.
Assuming similar registration as past years, we will group U4/5 and U6/7 players for game play.
Registration is open March 2 - April 13 2026
If you already have a RAMP account you will log in with that. If this is your first time using RAMP to register for an activity you will create an account. Your new account can be used for any sports league using RAMP (many leagues in the city now use it).
Late registration will be subject to a late fee and confirmation from our convener that we have space.
Payment of the MSA (Manitoba Soccer Association) fee is paid directly through the RAMP system and will require a credit card. This is not something we at VGCC have control over.
The program registration fee can be paid by credit card online (link in registration forms), or in person at the office.
Players will receive a coloured jersey to wear, to be returned. Players will need athletic shorts, tall socks, cleats (or running shoes), and shin pads. Cleats are often available second hand from Play It Again Sports as well as Once Upon A Child. New cleats and shin pads are commonly found at Canadian Tire.
Our soccer convener will update families about expectations in mid-April. A reminder that final information is often delayed by a lack of coaches. Please consider signing up to coach - you’ll have a lot of fun supporting this youth activity as an activity leader; also note that all parents/guardians will be expected to assist with activities following the Grassroots Programming guidelines for Active Start age groups.
We thank Tim Hortons for their continued support of Micro-Soccer programs.
Micro-soccer players may be eligible for subsidized registration through the GCWCC - details provided by GCWCC regarding eligibility. To apply, you will need to make an appointment to visit the Manager in the office and bring the documentation outlined in the eligibility details linked above.
U8-10 Grassroots Soccer - registration OPEN
Registration is now open through Phoenix Soccer. Please see our January blog post for some more information.
Note that new to 2026, grassroots soccer will be offered in TWO blocks during the outdoor season. Families can choose if they wish to register in both or one. Blocks will include the May - June timeline that most recreational families are now accustomed to as well as another 8 weeks in August - September. Families can also choose if they wish to register for training once a week (Grassroots 1) or twice a week (Grassroots 2). Regardless of the number of training days, all players will have the same Match Days schedule. If you are unsure, once a week is akin to previous rec soccer timelines. These revised options provide new opportunities for our community players with a stronger focus on development. Kids will be playing soccer!
We thank all the families for their patience as clubs and community centres navigate these changes; we have also been awaiting information. Canada Soccer released their most recent update to the mandatory 2026 grassroots programming on February 13th. We encourage all curious families to learn more directly from the most recent Canada Soccer announcement.
U11-U18 Recreational soccer - outdoor - Registration OPEN until March 26
Registration for U11-U18 (born 2008-2015) rec soccer is through Phoenix Soccer.
The outdoor soccer season runs from May through June with U13-18 playoffs in early July as coordinated by the Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association (WYSA).
At the conclusion of registration, teams will be created. Teams are usually a combination of players from a number of community centres playing out of a host club. Your child may be placed on a team hosted by any of the community centres in the district. For example, even if you live in the Gateway catchment area, you could be assigned to a team out of Valley Gardens.
In some situations, local community registration may not have enough players to field a team. In those situations, we will look to transfer the players to another community centre outside of the Phoenix district. Early registration is important to ensure that the conveners know how many players are available to form a team.
On rare occasions, players from different ages may be combined in order to form a team. We do our best to avoid doing this.
A team representative will contact you approximately two weeks prior to the start of the season.
Schedule Release Date: Provided by WYSA.
Financial assistance for U11-18 rec soccer is available through Sport Manitoba KidSport Link to an online form
